ABOUT THE MAGAZINE

As an attorney practicing in Workers’ Compensation and Labor, I have had both the honor and opportunity to present speeches and lectures to many Labor Organizations concerning Workers’ Compensation Law and related Employee benefits and rights.  Many times, I found that there were many individuals who were not able to attend these lectures which usually occurred during lunch breaks, weekends, or evenings.  For those who were unable to attend, either because of work or family obligations, I felt that it was important to provide those individuals an opportunity to have online resources to educate themselves about these issues.  In addition, I wanted those individuals to have an opportunity to correspond if they had any questions.

Besides those in Organized Labor, I wanted the internet site to provide educational opportunities to those who do not have the benefit of  being involved with organized labor.  Therefore, I felt that such a site would be of a tremendous benefit to those who are not in organized Labor.  The result of my effort was the “California Work Injury Help-Site” (www.workinjuryhelp.com). I believe this site has accomplished that goal.

Once that goal was achieved, I realized that there was another void that needed to be filled.   An internet site needed to be created to provide up-to-date information about the ever changing field of Workers’ Compensation Law.  An Online Magazine was needed to provide injured workers and their employee advisors ongoing information about current events.  Also, I felt that the magazine would also be able to provide an outlet to post various articles of interest concerning topics about the law and industrial medicine.  In addition, this magazine is an attempt to bring some dialogue out to those who advocate the rights of injured workers.  It is important for those in our community that we support those politicians and advocates that have fought for the rights of the industrially injured.  Thereby, this publication, C I W A,  the “California Injured Worker Advisor” was created.
