The Table of Contents has been revised to reflect the Laws for the State of California which are fully in effect as of 1/1/05. Please note that the recently enacted Laws are and will be subject to litigation over the coming years in order to interpret those laws. Therefore, the information contained within this site is not intended to provide legal advise and is merely intended to provide information. It is recommended that an injured worker contact either an attorney or the State Information and Assistance Officers for any advice. Please click here to Contact Me.
Before reading this site, I would like people to be aware of the following information, according to the Los Angeles Times Business Section of 12/31/04, insurance companies are getting back into the California Workers' Compensation Insurance Market because they see opportunities to make money. It is my opinion that these money making opportunities will be at the expense of injured workers receiving both compensation and medical care for their work injuries. It is further my opinion that the Governor of the State of California and the State Legislatures have abandoned the concerns of hardworking employees for both political and financial gain. While there were problems with Workers' Compensation System and there was a need to correct some of the existing laws, the recent changes in the law literally destroy injured workers' rights and benefits. It is incumbent that injured workers be vigilant and demand that they be treated with the respect and dignity. Workers, who give their hearts, souls, and bodies into a day's labor, deserve such treatment. This coming year, workers must continually contact both the Governor and their Local State Legislatures and express their outrage over the reforms and the cuts in benefits. If there is significant pressure placed upon them, there might be a chance that the benefits under the new law will be improved.
I wish every worker a "healthy and happy" new year.
